JACK WHITEHALL'S PARENTS REVEAL HEARTBREAKING REASON HE WANTED TO START A FAMILY SOONER

Jack Whitehall's parents have opened up on their son becoming a dad for the first time and shared the emotional reason behind why the time was right.

The comedian, 35, welcomed his first child last year with model girlfriend Roxy Horner. She gave birth to their daughter Elise last September and the couple have been enjoying parenthood ever since. Jack's parents, Michael and Hilary, have revealed how he is getting on as a new dad.

Actress Hilary revealed to The Mirror that she always knew Jack would be a dad one day. "He's absolutely amazing with little children and little babies, though he's always been," she said. "He's always been great with babies." Michael, 84, who has appeared on show Travels with my Father with Jack, shared the heartbreaking reason why Jack decided it was time to have his own child.

He said: " I think what happened is Jack finally realised quite how old I was and thought I better get on and have a baby for daddy. A grandchild for daddy. Although I had already got two grandchildren. Hilary added: "I think what happened was he saw his younger sister having a second baby and he thought 'I better crack, I'm being left behind'.

She continued: "The minute Elsie was born, she looked exactly like Jack as a baby. It was like, 'oh my goodness, this exciting'. And now she's beginning to look a little bit more like her mother. But as a newborn, she looked just like Jack did." However, Michael admitted: "The only thing I'm not going to be able to achieve is if by some miracle, I could have great-grandchildren.

"But I think the chances of that are to say, remote, I would say more than remote." Hilary and Michael have teamed up with easyJet Holidays where they took on the challenge of being Beach Rangers. The couple, who star on their own podcast The Wittering Whitehalls, shared what irks them most when at the seaside, as Hilary admitted to being annoyed by loud music.

She explained: "We recently were in Greece in one of those beach bars where they had a lunchtime DJ. I don't know what that's all about. I thought DJs came out at night, but there seemed to be lunchtime DJs." Hilary turned to Michael and added: "Very politely, did you ask them to turn the music down?"

Michael quipped: "I thought the thing had got stuck, I didn't say 'turn it down'. I just said 'your music system over there is stuck so could you just switch it off? But if you have to have it on, I suggest you just unstick it'." Hilary laughed as she explained: "We were with some people in their seventies having lunch and quick as a flash, our host who's 75 said 'no, Michael, it's not stuck I think you'll find that's house music'.

"To which you said 'you mean the sort of music you play in your house'." Michael confirmed: "I had no idea what house music was." Hilary admitted their beach trips have now changed as she said: "We are now moving into a whole new Beach Ranger situation. I think if you're there with little children, you probably don't want booming music next to you or drones that fly around your head or Tiktokers with their selfie sticks."
