GLASTONBURY HOST JO WHILEY SPARKS CONCERN AS BBC VIEWERS ALL SAY THE SAME THING

Jo Whiley concerned viewers as her co-host had to step in while she presented live from Glastonbury.

The Radio 2 DJ is among the hosts for the BBC's coverage of the iconic music festival. She has been at Worthy Farm, keeping music fans watching from home updated with the must-see performances. Jo is joined by Clara Amfo, Lauren Laverne and Jack Saunders as they cover the whole weekend so fans don't miss a thing.

However, as the fourth day of Glastonbury commenced many viewers noticed Jo appeared to struggle. It became clear the presenter had a croaky voice as she tried to speak. Clara offered her support to Jo during the live segments as she had to take over some commentary.

Viewers picked up on the issue as they took to X to share their support to Jo. One said: "Jo Whiley please rest that voice #GlastonburyFestival #GLASTONBURY #glastonbury2024." Another added: "Jo Whiley please rest that voice #GlastonburyFestival #GLASTONBURY #glastonbury2024."

Someone else commented: "Jo Whiley please rest that voice #GlastonburyFestival #GLASTONBURY #glastonbury2024." A fourth wrote: ""Jo whiley needs a lozenge #Glastonbury." Jo eventually addressed her sore throat as an hour and a half into the BBC coverage she said: "Can I just say, I have been having honey and lemon.

"I have been having lozenges, everything I could have possibly done I have done, and it's awful timing for this to have happened." Turning to Clara, she added: "Over to you," to which she replied: "I can confirm Jo Whiley has made every effort to preserve that iconic voice of hers and I guarantee it will be back by the end of Glastonbury!"

Earlier this year, Jo insisted she will continue to go to Glastonbury no matter her age. Speaking to The Times, she said: “It’s fantastic being on stage, not apologising for the age I am, and seeing loads of women the same age in the audience.” The BBC Radio 2 presenter added she had “no intention of disappearing” because “people think I should be embarrassed”.

“I’m not embarrassed at all,” she said. “I still feel 27. The essence of us doesn’t change at all.” Jo first attended Glastonbury when she was 17-years-old following a sixth form party. She opened up on being Glastonbury's host to the Mirror last year where she confessed: “I’m just really fond of it. I’ve got so many lovely memories. I went in the sixth form. A bunch of my friends were at a party and they said, ‘We’re going to this thing, it’s in Glastonbury, it’s a festival apparently.’

"And I said, ‘Oh, can I come?’ There was only one stage and we saw two bands, had a really great time, then we left because it was raining. So it was exactly the way it’s always been! Then I went with my husband when my daughter was 18 months old. I’ve spent a lot of time down there in the kids’ fields!”

Jo attends the festival for work and stays in a nice hotel, while the rest of her family go for fun and stay in a tent. She added: “I actually really love working there. I love talking to fans and being part of the whole Glastonbury team, so I’ve got no desire to go and just get drunk. I love my job!”
