ZAC EFRON LIFTS LID ON A FAMILY AFFAIR'S VERY RAUNCHY ORIGINAL TITLE BEFORE NETFLIX U-TURN

Zac Efron has revealed the original name of his upcoming Netflix rom-com with Nicole Kidman before it was totally transformed and became A Family Affair.

The Iron Claw actor recently admitted that he had initially been drawn in by the controversial name, despite the fact that it was sure to ruffle some feathers.

Zac and Nicole seem to have enjoyed working together on the feel-good comedy, which also stars The Kissing Booth icon Joey King.

Asked about their reasons for working on the fun project, Zac and Nicole confirmed they both leapt at the chance once they received Carrie Solomon’s screenplay.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times , Nicole described how she wanted to “do something that is fun and funny and completely different” after working on dramas for most of her career.

“I was like, ‘Please, I’m begging to have some fun and to be considered for some sort of romantic comedy at some point,’” Nicole explained.

“So, this came to me, and I was like, ‘, please, please, please.’ Because I never get offered them. I never get considered.”

While Zac confirmed that he had felt a “natural inroad” to the characters on the page.

He added: “Then, of course, at that point Nicole was involved — and I dream of working with Nicole — and Joey was also in talks for It. That was just a dream scenario for a rom-com.”

Zac then went on to spill the beans on the film’s original title as he said: “Initially the script was called — can I say that?”

His co-star Joey intervened to say that he could, while Nicole confirmed the movie “had a different title”.

Zac revealed: “It had a different title, which made it really exciting to read. It was called ‘Motherf—.’

“As soon as you get that script — when it says that on the front — you can’t help but want to read it.”

In the end, it seems Netflix opted for the more family-friendly title of A Family Affair, which is less punchy but definitely more marketable.

A Family Affair hits Netflix on Friday, June 28.
